Cop turns Gabbar in UP

Date:

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh police seem to have taken the appropriate learning from the film Sholay. In a shameful incident in the state, a policeman played Gabbar and made an innocent girl dance for her life, unlike Basanti, who danced for the life of her lover.

The threat of imminent death kept a dancer at a cultural event on her feet in UP’s Shahjahanpur town. The man wielding the gun, however, was not a mafia don, but police constable Shailendra Shukla. Anytime the dancer showed signs of tiredness, the constable indicated he would shoot her immediately.

After barging into the cultural function and getting on stage, he loaded his revolver and took aim at the dancer’s head. People present mentioned that Shukla was drunk, and was not only threatening the dancer, but the audience as well. A witness recalled the terrifying incident, “The dancer was so terrified that she initially lost her balance on the stage. But fearing for life, she somehow regained her composure and followed his order.”

The cop was also carrying currency notes worth Rs 30,000 which he showered on the dancer at the event.

The officer was suspended, and Superintendent of Police, Shahjahanpur, Ramesh Chandra Sahu, ordered a departmental inquiry against him. What’s shocking again is what the Superintendent said, “He will be attached with the police line till the inquiry is on.”
