Islamabad: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif accused India of not understanding peace and declared they would have to be taught in their own language.

Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament House on Saturday, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi made clear an expression of extremist attitude. He went on to say in the past, a lot of Muslim blood was shed at the hands of Modi, and even now innocent Muslim lives are being lost.

Responding to reporters on the cross border firing, Asif said the issue of Indian aggressiveness was already raised on multiple forums, and now Pakistan was considering taking up the issue with the UN.

This comes after Pakistani troops resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing on several BSF posts along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba and Kathua districts. They targeted villages and 13 border outposts in heavy shelling since Friday, leaving six civilians injured.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh asked Pakistan to stop ceasefire violations and said India has been offering its hand of friendship; Pakistan was repeatedly targeting border areas in India.

The latest round of ceasefire violations by Pakistan which started on New Year eve left a BSF jawan dead and seven others injured while five Pakistani Rangers were killed in retaliatory firing by India.

Friday night’s ceasefire violation was the fourth by the Pakistani Rangers in as many days and the eighth in the last nine days.
