Bollywood’s dimpled beauty turns 29!

Date:

Bollywood’s diva Deepika Padukone turned 29 on Monday. Born to Konkani parents in Copenhagen and raised in Bangalore, Padukone was a huge Badminton enthusiast like her father Parkash Padukone and played in National Level championships. She later gave it up for modeling.

Known to have the cutest of smiles you get to see at the movies, you just can’t roll your eyes off the screen when she flaunts her long and sexy legs. With irresistible charisma she is the queen in winning hearts.

Her debut movie was the 2006 release ‘Aishwarya’, a Kannada film directed by Indrajit Lankesh.

When we talk about Deepika Padukone, we think of the bold, tall and vivacious heroine who made her debut in Bollywood with Farah Khan’s ‘Om Shanti Om’ (2007) opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan. A grand movie, a grander debut, she was welcomed as the next superstar and she was awarded as the ‘Best Debutante – Female’ trophies at all the award shows that year.

Her next film in Bollywood was YRF’s ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ (2008). She looked beautiful as always but her acting talent didn’t accumulate much applause. Then followed ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ (2009) which, despite the hype, didn’t do her any good either.

Through 2009 to 2011, she made her presence felt in movies like ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’, ‘Lafangey Parindey’, ‘Break Ke Baad’ and ‘Love Aaj Kal’ among others, but these were also the years when more than acting and career, her personal life – the much hyped love affair with actor Ranbir Kapoor, her RK tattoo on her neck and the later breakup – made headlines.

In 2012, Deepika won both critical acclaim and commercial success for playing Veronica Malaney in Cocktail. Her portrayal of a rich brat, with a heart of gold in Homi Adajania’s film left all awestruck.

Deepika teamed up once again with her then beau Ranbir Kapoor and weaved magic on screen in Ayan Mukerji’s film ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’. Their crackling chemistry, the film’s youth friendly story line and peppy songs made the film a blockbuster and strengthened Deepika’s position in the top league.

She ruled Bollywood in 2013, delivering four INR 100 crore films – Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. She also got several awards for YJHD and others.

Chennai Express went on to break all records and made a whopping 200 crores at the box office. The film got applauses from everywhere and became a mega blockbuster which broke all records by fetching as the first film to make 200 crores.

But she did not stop there. In 2014, she was seen in ‘Finding Fanny’ and ‘Happy New Year’. HNY has turned out to be a gold spinner at the box office. It was her third hit with superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The musical heist drama made a gross business of INR 225 crore worldwide.

This actress is not only the reigning queen of Bollywood but apparently rules actor Ranveer Singh’s heart as well. While the Lootera actor has been fairly open about his feelings regarding Deepika, she has always maintained a dignified silence about her personal life.

She became much more guarded about her personal life since her high-profile relationship with actor Ranbir Kapoor which ended in 2009.

Deepika and Ranveer  were seen enjoying their exquisite holiday in the lovely locations of Maldives and the two headed to NYC to ring in Deepika’s 29th birthday.

Buzz is that the hottest love birds of B-town are planning to have a cozy little birthday celebration for Deepika in NYC, just like they did last year.

Once they are back, the love birds will continue shooting for their upcoming film ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

We wish Deepika a very Happy Birthday and a great year ahead!
