Dopfer fastest on slalom first run

Date:

Fritz Dopfer of Germany was fastest over the first leg of the men’s World Cup slalom in the Swiss resort of Adelboden on Sunday.

Dopfer completed the first run in 57.18sec after the start was delayed for 30 minutes following heavy snowfalls at the Bernese Oberland resort which forced the organisers to make sure the piste was safe.

Italian skiier Patrick Thaler was second fastest, just one tenth of a second behind Dopfer’s time.

Austria’s World Cup leader Marcel Hirscher, winner of Saturday’s giant slalom, was well-placed before the second leg, lying third, 0.75sec behind the leader.

Slalom World Cup leader Felix Neureuther of Germany, was eliminated after he ended up straddling a marker.
