Akhilesh raises pitch for Make in UP

Date:

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is soon going to have its own ‘Pragati Maidan’, bigger in area and better in facilities what we have in the one at New Delhi.

A decision to this effect was taken by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav after he visited the world’s largest engineering  fair ‘Hannover Messe 2015’  in Germany recently.

The CM had decided on it in principle while the industrial development department had been asked to work out modalities in this regard, the UP Industrial Development Principal Secretary Mahesh Kumar Gupta told NewsMobile.

The ideal location of the proposed exhibition ground could be in Lucknow or Agra along the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, the dream project of Akhikesh Yadav.

“It will reduce the dependence on New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan’ for various international trade fairs, exhibitions and other such events,” sources said.

The ‘ Pragati Maidan’ of Delhi is now 43 year old,set up in sprawling 72000 square metre. The UP’s Maidan will be equipped with most modern facilities to host international events.

According to official sources, the idea behind such ventures is in sync with the projection of Uttar Pradesh to invite foreign companies on a theme of ‘Make in UP’, asserting the ‘Make in India’  cannot be realised without ‘Make in UP’.

It was again the initiative of Akhikesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party gocernment that the pitch was raised by proactive projection of ‘Brand UP’ at the Hannover fair of UP delegation last week.

As per the information furnished by UP chief secretary Alok Ranjan , a number of trade bodies such as Indo-German Business Network, Indo-German chamber of Commerce, Indian Business  Chamber of Luxemburg etc had shown keen interest to bring investment and collaboration to share European technologies in the field of industrial engineering, food processing, solid waste management and customized skill development.

Ranjan said that beside this, given the state’s thrust on renewable energy, major Swiss technologies in the sector were identified for transfer and long-term collaboration. The visit of the delegation also triggered a notable interest from Swiss food processing and heavy engineering sector like Buhler, Frey etc, he added.

He claimed that the conducive atmosphere created in Uttar Pradesh for business had made the investors from many countries sit and take notice.
