Bollywood lovers unite in Jakarta

Jakarta: A 13-member band from India led by lead singer Shibani Kashyap entertained the packed Balairung Soesilo Soedirman, auditorium with great variety of spellbinding Bollywood, sufi, Qawalli, Rajasthani folk and contemporary songs. The musical group is visiting Indonesia under “Sahabat India – The Festival of India in Indonesia”.

Earlier, the audience was regaled when more than dozen Bollywood fans clubs of Jakarta came together and presented “Lenong Bollywood”, a program based on the popular Bollywood and Indonesian themes and songs. 

The function brought several Bollywood fans clubs of Jakarta on the stage of ‘Sahabat India’ for the first time.

The members of Bollywood Fan Clubs electrified the atmosphere with their brilliant performances and colourful costumes on Bollywood theme. The fans danced on the popular songs from the movies of their favourite Stars such as Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Rani Mukherjee. The young fans displayed great zeal in clicking selfies and photographs against the backdrop of Sahabat India. 

Shibani Kashyap concert which started afterwards enthralled the audience with rendition of popular songs of variety of genres. Some of the songs which regaled the audience were ‘Mai Tainu Samjhawa Ki’, ‘Sona Ri’, Kali Teri gut’, ‘Har ghadi pukarti hai’, ‘Tum  paas aaye’, ‘Tujhe dekha to ye Jaana Sanam’, ‘Zinda hoon mai’, and medley of R D Burman songs.

H.E. Gurjit Singh, Ambassador of India to Indonesia, diplomats, senior Indonesian dignitaries and prominent Indian businessmen and large number of Indonesian and Indian Bollywood fans watched the performance.

Singh and Madam Neeru Singh felicitated the artists at the end of the program.
