Nagpur: While the Indian judiciary brought down the curtains on one face of terror,what Yakub did minutes before being taken ot the gallows is something very few people know.
Yakub Memon, 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict, was hanged to death in Nagpur jail on Thursday morning, following a last minute emergency hearing of the Supreme Court.
Before heading into the gallows, Memon woke up at 3.30 am on Thursday and was permitted a warm bath.
He offered namaz and read the Holy Quran at the Nagpur central jail before his scheduled hanging.
He was provided a set of fresh clothes and offered a breakfast of his choice.
Memon was sent to the gallows — on his 54th birthday on Thursday — after several of his court appeals and clemency petitions were rejected by various court.
