Damian Lewis to play the next ‘Bond’ ?

Date:

While fans continue to speculate about who will play the next James Bond, sources say that Homeland star Damian Lewis is the ‘top choice’ to replace Daniel Craig.

While the likes of Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and David Bekham among those rumored to be stepping into Bond’s tuxedo, Lewis is reportedly the frontrunner to take over as 007 when Craig steps down.

While giving an interview to Esquire magazine in 2013, Lewis had spoken about the possibility of him playing the Bond. He had said, “It would be wonderful. Craig is doing a wonderful job and will continue for a bit. I’ll cross that bridge when I get into it.”

“If Daniel Craig leaves, it’s Damian Lewis who will be crowned the new Bond,” the Sunday Mirror wrote. “He is seen as an all-round international star who is perfect for the role. As he ages, he looks increasingly suave and sophisticated.” Lewis would be the first redhead to play Bond. His age also lines up. The actor is 44 years old. Craig is 47.

It is believed that Craig’s run as the British spy will come to an end in 2020 with Spectre and is slated for release in UK on 26 October and the star cast includes Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci, Ralph Fiennes and Naomi Harris alongside Craig.
