Why ‘D’ is not good news for Delhi’s Diplomacy

Date:

The political circus over the Dadri incident is growing and there is a tourism over the death of an innocent man which is happening.

What is required is a credible probe to ascertain what transpired in Dadri as incidents like these are dangerous for the country and its image.

More importantly corrective measures are required to ensure that fringe elements from any community do not turn into a chaocracy.

For Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has become a champion of brand India, these incidents are bound to stain image of India which has got a brilliant makeover.

In a world bridged by social media, incidents like these are bound to create doubts and confusion about India’s ability to maintain social cohesion.

What is important is to understand that these incidents are not seen in isolation by the international community but often linked to others which may be unrelated incidents.

What needs to happen

A clear message from the Prime Minister that he has not given a blank cheque to any group supposedly from the rightist fringe elements.

That these elements are actually harming the cause that they claim to espouse is clearly apparent from the fact that many within the Sangh parivar are also not too happy with the going ons which has diverted the real agenda.

Prime Minister Modi got a mandate for change on an agenda for development and he needs to intervene before these incidents erase all the good that he has done in the diplomatic arena.
