Gurgaon: An eight feet long python, weighing 25 kilogram, was caught from premises of a temple at Behrampur village in Haryana.

As the news spread, villagers gathered around the temple to catch a glimpse of the python. The python was first spotted by villagers who had gone to the temple to offer prayers on the first day of Navratri, the nine-day festival where Hindus in India fast and celebrate Goddess Durga’s stay on earth.

According to the villagers, the python could have slithered in from the forests surrounding Aravalli hills. A rescue team was sent to capture the python. No untoward incident has been reported. Snakes have been worshipped in India since time immemorial and signify the concept of rebirth in Hindu mythology due to the shedding of its old skin.
