Online meat e-talier Zappfresh raises Rs 2 cr in Angel Funding

Gurgaon based Zappfresh, a raw meat e-tailer, has raised about Rs 2Cr ($300 K) in an angel round of funding from a couple of undisclosed investors.

Launched in 2015 by Deepanshu Manchanda and Shruti Gochhwal, Zappfresh runs an online portal and sources meat straight from meat farms around Gurgaon. The portal connects users to poultry farms and others with a managed marketplace model.

The company claims that it delivers the product to the end customer within 90 minutes after the order is placed. Currently, Zappfresh has its presence in Gurgaon and south Delhi.

The portal offers variety of items, including whole chicken, mutton, turkey duck and pork. It also sells pre-cooked items like cold cuts like ham, sausages and salami etc. The firm is also planning to introduce seafood category soon.

With the fresh funds coming in Zappfresh plans to expand its operations to other cities and improve the technical infrastructure.

Godrej’s Nature Basket and Bangalore based Licious also compete in the same category and meat market is estimated at INR 110,000 crores, with a CAGR of 18 percent over the last three years.
