One sub-inspector dead, another seriously injured after being stabbed by thieves

Date:

More than 100 policemen are on the look-out for two thieves – Krishnappa and Madhul from Shivamogga – who killed one of their colleagues and seriously injured another on Friday. The police had been tracking both of them after they reportedly burgled a house in September.

A report in Deccan Chronicle stated that policemen found a mobile in the burgled house and had been tracking the number. They found out that Krishnappa had bought a Honda Dio from Turbo Honda in Vinayaka Layout and had the officials call him to their showroom on Friday. When the two men came the police were to nab them but the duo realised it was a trap and tried to escape.

Police constable S Jagadish chased and caught Krishnappa but Madhu came back to help his father. Madhu took a dagger from Krishnappa and stabbed the constable 13 times in the abdomen and rib cage. He died on the spot. They took Jagadish’s service pistol too.

Another constable, Venkateshamurthy tried to catch the two men but he was also stabbed in the back.

The report adds that the two constables were taken to the hospital.

A case has been registered and the police are on the look-out for the two men.
