‘World War Z’ sequel back on track

Sequel to 2013 film “World War Z” starring Brad Pitt is back on track after Paramount hired Dennis Kelly to carry forward the last draft penned by Steven Knight.

In October 2013, director Marc Foster announced that he will not return for “World War Z 2”, post which Spanish helmer JA Bayona (The Impossible) was given the director’s chair, reported Aceshowbiz.

The original film was based on Max Brooks’ 2006 novel “World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War.”

Brad Pitt, who is producing the film will reprise his role of a a former United Nations investigator, who stops a zombie pandemic.

The project is scheduled for release on June 9, 2017.
