Hyundai, Renault and Ford halt production in Chennai

Hyundai, Renault and Ford stopped production at their plants in Chennai on December 2, due to the excessive rain and floods in the city.

According to drivespark.com, the three automakers decided to suspend production in their factories for the sake of the safety of their employees. All three companies have said that they’ll take a call on whether or not they’ll start production again on Thursday depending on the weather conditions.

Hyundai’s Chennai plant has a capacity to produce around 6.8 lakh vehicles annually. While, Ford produces 3.4 lakh engines and 2 lakh cars annually at its plant, the Renault-Nissan Alliance factory rolls out up to 4.8 lakh vehicles per year.
