Flight operations to Chennai ‘resumes’ tomorrow

Date:

In a big relief to people stranded in Chennai due to the floods, the Chennai Airport Authority on Sunday announced that it would resume round the clock services from Monday.

“We are happy to announce that it has been decided to resume the round the clock services, all weather operations from 6 a.m. December 7. In other words, from 7th December, 2015, normal operations of Chennai Airport i.e. both Domestic and International flight operations will start operating,” said a statement released by Chennai Airport Director Deepak Shastri.

Chennai airport had suspended flights till Sunday in the wake of floods. It was on Friday declared fit for operating technical ferry and relief flights.

Following inspection of runway and other areas, the aerodrome was declared available for limited day time operations, under visual meteorological conditions for technical ferry and relief flight from Chennai airport.

On December 2, AAI had announced that the airport would be shut till December 6 after heavy rains caused flooding of the runway and nearby operational areas.
