Sensex slips 67 points as profit-booking weighs

Date:

The benchmark BSE Sensex fell about 67 points in early trade today as investors booked profits in recent gainers amid mixed Asian cues.

The 30-share barometer declined 66.73 points or 0.24 per cent to 27,736.51 with sectoral indices led by bank, metal and teck, trading in the negative zone.

The index had risen 92.72 points in the previous session.

The NSE Nifty was trading lower by 24.00 points or 0.28 per cent at 8,517.20.

Brokers said apart from profit-booking in recent gainers, disappointing earnings by some companies and a mixed trend in other Asian markets, influenced trading sentiment.

Shares of Axis bank fell 1.93 to Rs 527.20 after the company posted disappointing quarterly earnings.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was down 0.28 per cent while Japan’s Nikkei up 0.38 per cent in early trade today. Shanghai Composite rose 0.24 per cent.

The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.29 per cent higher on Friday.
