Rio set back for India

Abhinav Bindra just missed the medal.Indians missed another opportunity as Indian Hockey team slumped to a 1-2 defeat to reigning double Olympic champions Germany.They conceded it within the last three seconds, where Christopher Ruhr scored the winner for Germany . Last India won over Germany was in the Atlanta Games when they secured a 3-0 victory.

The individual Olympic gold medalist in 2008 Bindra at the same men’s 10m air rifle event, lost a shoot-off against S Kulish after the two were tied third at 163.8 in the race to reach the medal round. Ukrainian marksman Kulish took the silver medal with 204.6 and gold was won by Niccolo Campriani (206.1) of Italy.

The Indian shooting ace Bindra, in his fifth and last appearance in Olympics, had finished seventh in the qualifying round. Another Indian Shooter and London Olympics bronze medallist Gagan Narang missed out of the finals as he finished at a far off 23rd position.

After two days of start of Rio Olympics, India is still waiting to open their medal count.
