Mercury soars in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh, Aug 16 (PTI) Maximum temperatures todaywent up by few notches above normal in most parts of Punjaband Haryana. Chandigarh, joint Capital of Punjab and Haryana,recorded maximum temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius, twonotches above normal, as per the MeT department report. In Haryana, Ambala’s maximum was 35.6 degrees Celsius, twonotches above normal while Hisar and Karnal registeredmaximum temperatures of 38.9 and 33.8 degrees Celsius, threenotches above normal, respectively. Narnaul’s maximum was 34degrees Celsius. Amritsar’s maximum was 34.5 degrees Celsius while Ludhianaand Patiala recorded maximum temperatures of 35.8 degreesCelsius and 35.6 degrees Celsius, respectively. Ludhiana received a rainfall of 1 mm. light rains may occur at isolated places in Punjab andHaryana tomorrow, the MeT forecast said. PTI CHS AQS RGAQS
