Criminal revision petition in HC against Nagaland CM

Kohima, Aug 18 (PTI) A criminal revision petition has beenfiled before the Kohima Bench of the Gauhati High Court incases pertaining to the educational qualification of NagalandChief Minister T R Zeliang. A lower court had earlier dismissed the cases. Filing the revision petition, the petitoners said theywere within the limitation period as per the Supreme Court andhigh court orders. The HC after hearing the counsel for the petitioner todayfixed September 14 as the next date. Senior apex court advocate K N Balgopal represented thepetitioners at the hearing. The judicial magistrate first class of Peren district haddismissed the complaint cases on Zeliang’s educationalqualification on July 29 on the ground that they are barredby time limitation. In November 2015, Maziezokho Nisa of Jotsoma village hadfiled a complaint against an alleged offence punishable underRepresentation of People Act, 1951, purported to have beencommitted Zeliang while filing his affidavit for 2013 statepolls. A similar case was filed against the chief minister byK K Kulimbe of Jalukie town in July this year. PTI NBS KKSC
