New Delhi, Aug 20 (PTI) Delhi Police constable AnandSingh who was shot dead by miscreants while he was chasingthem after they had robbed a woman in Shahabad area, was paidhomage by his colleagues and dignitaries today. The AAP government announced Rs 1 crore to Singh’s familyas per its policy, which states personnel of police, armedforces, paramilitary and other uniformed forces, who arecitizen of the national capital, killed on duty will be giventhis compensation by the city administration. A number of teams of Delhi Police’s specialised unitsincluding Special Cell and Crime Branch have been formed toarrest the three accused who shot dead the constable. Anand was chasing the three unidentified miscreants whohad snatched money from a woman street vendor at Sector fiveBawana industrial area last night when he was shot at, apolice official had said. He sustained bullet injury on the chest and was rushed toa nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead. "We have zeroed in on the suspects who will nabbed verysoon," a senior police officer said. A ceremony was held at New Police Lines ground, KingswayCamp, where wreaths on behalf of the Union Home Minister andthe Lt Governor of Delhi were laid on the mortal remains ofthe constable. Delhi Cabinet Minister Gopal Rai laid a wreath on thebehalf of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi Police chiefAlok Kumar also laid a wreath on the body of the constable.
