U’khand govt arranges funds for scholarships to SC/ST students

Dehradun, Aug 22 (PTI) The Uttarakhand government todayarranged for funds worth Rs 70 crore out of its own resourcesfor paying scholarships to SC, ST and OBC students besidespromising to make similar arrangements for payment of dues tosugarcane growers. It has been done on the directives of the chief ministerin view of the problems being faced by students belonging tothese sections due to funds not being released by the Centre. With this arrangement SC/ST and OBC students will startgetting their scholarships soon, Chief Minister Harish Rawattold reporters. Funds worth Rs 70 crore are also being arranged forpayment of dues to sugarcane farmers which will also be donesoon, he said. PTI ALMKUN
