MPCA to decide on holding elections in tomorrow’s AGM

Indore, Aug 28 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Cricket Associationwill take a call on holding its biennial elections intomorrow’s annual general meeting scheduled here, against thebackdrop of R M Lodha panel’s advice that the poll processshould be put on hold as of now and the High Court rejecting aplea seeking stay on the polls. "We have taken the legal opinion on the Lodha Panel’sview, and we will place the entire facts before AGM. The AGMwill take a call on whether to go ahead with the polls ornot," MPCA CEO, Rohit Pandit told PTI today. Experts feel that if tomorrow’s AGM sticks to thePanel’s view and decides against holding elections, then, asper MPCA constitution, the existing body will remain in placeuntil new office bearers are elected. Senior Congress leader and former Union ministerJyotiraditya Scindia is the incumbent chairman of MPCA andformer BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale is its president. While hearing a writ petition on August 26, the Indorebench of the Madhya Pradesh HC refused to stay holding of MPCAAGM and elections, even as it sought a reply from the cricketbody within four weeks on the matter. The petition was filed by senior MPCA member LeeladharPaliwal and four others. The HC has fixed September 26 as the next date ofhearing. The petitioners demanded that the elections should beheld at the association only in compliance to the SupremeCourt’s order for BCCI and also other cricket clubs in thecountry.
