1 killed, 17 injured at van overturns

Burdwan(WB), Aug 30 (PTI) One person was killed and 17others injured after a van in which they were travelling,turned turtle near Ausgram of the district, the police said. A group of Trinamool Congress supporters from Dhankuravillage of Ausgram had gone to the neighbouring Ramnagar areato attend a party rally and while they were returning to theirvillage in a van, the driver lost control of the vehicle nearMorebandh and overturned, the police said. Local villagers rushed to the rescue of the victimsand they were first rushed to a primary health centre andlater on shifted to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital, thepolice said adding, Apurba Ghosh (42), a resident of Dhankura,died on the way to the hospital and the condition of threeamong the 17 injured were stated to be critical.
