Adhir asks Nadda to visit hospitals in WB

Kolkata, Aug 30 (PTI) West Bengal Congress president AdhirChowdhury today asked Union Health Minister J P Nadda to visitthe state government-run hospitals and witness their "sorrystate of affairs", following the death of two persons in theMurshidabad hospital fire incident. "I have written to Union Health Minister J P Naddaji andhave requested him that he should come and visit the state-runhospitals, to witness the sorry state of affairs. I haverequested him to come and examine its pitiable conditionsbecause patients of these hospitals are Indian citizens too,"Chowdhury told PTI. "The people of the country should know how the state-runhospitals are functioning without any basic amenities andsafety measures," Chowdhury said. Two persons died and seven others were injured in astampede after a fire on August 27. West Bengal Chief MinisterMamata Banerjee has ordered a CID inquiry into the incident. Hinting at a conspiracy in the Murshidabad Medical Collegeand Hospital fire incident, Banerjee has alleged it was"planned" to kill innocent people. PTI PNT DKBMRJ
