Police pressurised Sub-Inspector Deepak Singh to givea written statement that he was bribed to conduct raids atSen’s house, the former deputy chief minister said. He wondered why police wanted to know the name of theinformer from the Excise department officials whereas, as perthe Excise Act, the name of the informer has to be withheld asno one would come forward to share any information due to thefear of being arrested.
