Bachchan, Fadnavis pick up brooms during Cleanathon

Mumbai, Sept 3 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Minister DevendraFadnavis and Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan today pickedup brooms during a ‘Maha Cleanathon’ held as part of theSwachh Bharat Abhiyan. Bachchan, the campaign ambassador, and Fadnavis took partin the event, along with volunteers and students, at the stategovernment-run J J Hospital here. "Fifty cities in Maharashtra will be ‘swachh’ by October 2and 7,000 villages in the state are now open-defecation free,"Fadnavis said. On public participation in building toilets, the ChiefMinister said, "If we don’t involve people in the constructionof toilets, it doesn’t fulfil the purpose. It becomes astorage space." "When you see someone littering. Go stop them. Tellthem what they are doing is wrong. When you keep doing thisrepeatedly, people will change," Bachchan said. PTI VT NPMNGRYS
