New asteroid discovered by students from Gurgaon

Dhruv Gupta and Deshna Jain, have done it as a part of a campaign conducted by the US-based International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC) to familiarise Indian students with astronomy.

This amazing discovery of asteroid by them have been classified as 2016 S21 P10vK9F and 2016 JQ37 P10VlA8. The students of Salwan Public School, Gurgaon, Dhruv studies in Class 11, while Deshna in Class 10. The two students are a part of the Science Popularisation Association of Communicators and Educators (SPACE).

SPACE is working in collaboration with the IASC programme for the past many years. With this collaboration, IASC hopes to add to NASA’s existing database of asteroids. The students awaits confirmation as they may get to name the asteroids.
