Reshma Qureshi, an Indian acid attack survivor challenged the definition of beauty as she strutted down the ramp at New York Fashion Week to inspire other acid attack survivors and to promote a ban on the trade of corrosive substances used to mutilate thousands of women every year.
On Thursday, Reshma Quereshi, 19, unlocked the “FTL Moda show in a long-sleeve, white gown with embroidered appliques by Indian designer Archana Kochhar during her first trip to the United States” reports said .
Two years ago, Reshma Quereshi was attacked with sulfuric acid by her brother-in-law. Due to acid attack, she suffered with severe facial burn and lost an eye. She never imagined that one day she would be going abroad as a model.
“No one else understands what an acid attack is except the survivors themselves,” she said. “I do not want this to happen to anyone else.”
