Subramanian Swamy awarded ‘Tamil Ratna’ in US

New York, Sep 11 (PTI) BJP leader Subramanian Swamy hasbeen honoured with ‘Tamil Ratna’ award by a body of Tamildiaspora here for fighting corruption and working for moretransparency in the functioning of the government. The America Tamil Sangam awarded the ‘Tamil Ratna’ to thesenior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP, who is currently on avisit to the US. The Sangam’s president Prakash Swamy highlighted the BJPleader’s contribution to fighting corruption and working formore transparency and accountability in the functioning of thegovernment, a statement issued by the organisation said hereyesterday. The statement quoted the BJP leader as saying that Indiais "again wielding considerable clout in the world arena andprojecting the message that it can be governed in the mosttransparent manner."
