Attempts being made to drive communal wedge in J&K: Nirmal

Kathua (JK), Sep 13 (PTI) Cautioning people against forcesinimical to peace, Jammu and Kashmir deputy chief ministerNirmal Singh today said that attempts were being made to drivea communal wedge between various communities in the state. "The people of Jammu and Kashmir have maintained theage-old amity among diverse communities despite attempts byelements inimical to peace to create communal wedge betweenvarious communities," Singh said while addressing a publicmeeting in the Hiranagar sector in this district. He said that the people of the state should maintain vigilagainst the forces hell bent to disrupt peace and harmony. Singh said that the PDP-BJP alliance was marching aheadwith an agenda to bring the state on development path bydevising schemes and programmes for all sections of society. He said that the present dispensation has initiateddevelopmental projects to meet the aspirations andexpectations of the people. "Several landmark decisions like setting up of medicalcolleges, engineering colleges, universities, AIIMS, IIT, IIMand IIMC besides other infrastructure for bringing a qualitychange in the lives of the people have been taken," he said.
