Mulayam Presses Ctrl-Alt-Delete on Akhilesh

The big political Mahabharata in Uttar Pradesh may have damaged the Samajwadi Party’s election campaign in UP, but today Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Friday visited Party headquarters and reversed the decisions made by his son Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav He said that the sacked minister Gayatri Prajapati will be back in the UP Cabinet.

He also said “We have a big family, differences can occur”. Mulayam realises that these differences may well be used by his detractors to puncture the SP campaign ahead of the elections.

Defending all the allegations of the truce between son Akhilesh and Brother Shivpal, Mulayam Singh Yadav said, “There will be no division in the party till I am here,” and added, “We have a big family, differences can occur.”

At his residence on Friday morning, he met both younger brother Shivpal Yadav and son Akhilesh Yadav, whose disputes have threatened to wreck the party ahead of crucial assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

“I have two duties, as chief minister and as a son. I will honour the word of the party president and I will do everything to make my father happy,” said Akhilesh Yadav . On Friday morning, he declined his uncle Shivpal’s resignation from UP cabinet.

Mulayam Singh also met Shivpal Yadav on Thursday evening, who had left all his duties in two resignation letters. He faxed one to Akhilesh Yadav notifying him that he would not serve as a minister in his cabinet anymore.

In the other, to his brother Mulayam Singh Yadav writing that he had resigned from all the party posts.

Ahead of this controversy, on Friday morning Shivpal Yadav staged a show of strength outside his residence, speaking to his supporters gathered there he said: “I am with Netaji… don’t let the party weaken.”
