‘China willing to enhance cooperation with Maharashtra’

From K J M Varma Beijing, Sep 17 (PTI) China is ready to further enhancecooperation with Maharashtra to achieve mutually beneficialand win-win results, State Councilor Yang Jiechi has said. Yang made the remarks yesterday when he met withMaharashtra Governor Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao in Mumbai. China and India are working to build a closer developmentpartnership, Yang said, noting that exchanges and cooperationin various fields between the two countries are expanding. "At the same time, the cooperation between China andMaharashtra is in an active momentum, with cooperation carriedout in various fields with high quality," said Yang. He said China is willing to boost cooperation with thestate in such fields as technology, information industry andclimate change, among others, state-run Xinhua news agencyreported. Yang expressed hope that the state of Maharashtra wouldcontinue to give play to its unique advantages, offer moreconvenient administrative services and good legal safeguardsto Chinese enterprises, create favourable businessenvironment, and set an example for expanding China-Indiacooperation. For his part, Rao said Maharashtra is ready to furtherenhance economic and trade contacts and promotepeople-to-people exchanges with China, and make greatercontribution to the development of China-India relations.
