12, including 6 women, get life term for killing man in 2013

Rajkot, Sep 20 (PTI) Twelve persons, including six women,were sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here today forkilling a man who had come to the rescue of his friend who wasattacked by a group of cattle transporters near here in 2013. Additional District and Sessions Judge VM Kalotara handeddown the punishment at Dhoraji town near here. He convictedthe 12 accused and sentenced them to life for killing HiteshGovind Maru at Upleta town in the district on March 21, 2013. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 11,700 each on theconvicts. As per the case detail, the incident occurred when DineshAhir tried to rescue stray cattle being loaded on a vehicle tobe transported to a slaughter house and was attacked by agroup of cattle transporters. On hearing about the incident, his friends Hitesh andPradeep Solanki rushed to save him. The group fatally stabbedHitesh and beat up Pradeep, causing severe injuries to him. The court examined the evidence against 12 people namedas accused in the case, including six women, and found themguilty. It also considered the deposition by eyewitnesses. PTIVJA KA PD RSYRCSRE
