This comes as the government filed an appeal in the Supreme Court asking to revise the court’s directions on rendering water to the Tamil Nadu. The appeal is to revise the order dated 20 September that had directed Karnataka to release 6,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu every month.

The government’s appeal came two days after a special legislature session passed a verdict declaring that Karnataka could not release the Cauvery water.

In a special session held on 23 September, both the Houses of the legislature had commissioned that Cauvery water must be carried only to meet the drinking water demands of Bengaluru and other towns.
