For close to almost 13 years, Virender Sehwag was the only triple-centurion in Tests club. However, on 19 December 2016, on the final Test against England, Virender Sehwag’s single stay in India’s triple-century club finally ended as he was accompanied by Karun Nair. And after his remarkable performance, Sehwag was one of the earliest to congratulate Karun Nair with that welcoming tweet.

A fatal incident happened last July in his home state Kerala.
After he made his international debut in Zimbabwe, Karun’s relatives planned a “thanksgiving” at Aranmula Temple in Kerala. But, the ‘snake boat’ by which they were sailing met with an accident in River Pamba.
Several deaths were reported in the tragic incident including Karun’s relatives. However, The Cricketer had a narrow escape. He was saved by the nearby villagers who helped him swim to the shore.
But, for Karun, life has not been a normal sail since his childhood. Karun’s mother, Prema Nair, said that her son had a premature birth and suffered from a “lungs disease” in his childhood. In fact, the doctors who were treating Karun advised his parents to support their son for sports and extra physical activities as the portion of his treatment.
Karun started playing in the street near his house in Bengaluru.“He would fall and cry initially. Even when he used to play cricket early on, we used to be fidgety and always nervous,” his mother stated.“That incident (boat accident) left Karun very upset and deeply affected. We always assure not to take it up in front of him and always attempt to puzzle him with something else,” the report quoted one of Karun’s relatives.
