All You Need to know about Apple’s iPhone 8

Date:

The Apple’s new iPhone is expected to be launched in September 2017 ( as is the trend with the previous models being launched in September), yet it already is making waves in the Apple enthusiasts circles all over the world. Apple’s shares are trading at an all-time high following the rumours about the new iPhone, which many expect will get a substantial makeover.

Most people who follow such rumours expect three models of the iPhone: presumably an iPhone 7S, an iPhone 7S Plus and an iPhone 8. What is yet not clear is whether those will be their actual names. After all, this is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, so some people are expecting the “iPhone 8” to be called the “iPhone X.” Because X is so much cooler.

Some more intriguing rumours about the actual specifications of the phone have surfaced in the recent past. Here’s a look at what experts expect to see:

A sharper screen:

Rumours are hot that at least the most expensive version of the iPhone will have an OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) screen, rather than the usual LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), which it packs presently.OLED screens are known for having vivid colors and deep blacks. Many experts also believe that the firm will use a curved screen, similar to what we’ve seen on the Samsung Galaxy Edge. Last year, there were also some reports that suggested that the phone would have a “virtual button” instead of a physical home button, making for an even smoother display.

A very high price tag:

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities predicted the fanciest iPhone could bear a price tag of more than $1,000 (roughly Rs. 67,000). It’s not quite as far-fetched as it may seem, a fully loaded iPhone 7 Plus, for example, already costs $969 (roughly Rs. 65,000). It will be hard for Apple management to make people believe in this price when Apple’s least expensive laptop is $999. The reason for this $1000 price tag is believed to be the OLED screen which is much costlier to produce considering the scale at which Apple production operates.

Wireless Charging is finally here

Apple already uses wireless charging for its Apple Watch, so it’s not much hard to connect the dots so as to think that they could adapt their technology for the phone, a technology which is available with its prime competitors, i.e. Samsung. The company last week also joined the Wireless Power Consortium, a standards body devoted to Wireless Power. In a statement to Business Insider, the company said it’s looking “to participate and contribute ideas” to the future thinking around wireless charging.

Some other rumours you should keep an eye out for, being an Apple lover, are as follows:

  1. iPhone 8 might have an All Glass Body like iPhone 4S to accommodate the curved screen.
  2. iPhone 8 may come in 3(or more) sizes.
  3. iPhone 8 won’t have a physical Home button, to be replaced by a virtual one.
  4. iPhone 8 may debut a new haptic feedback system.
  5. iPhone 8 might have an iris scanner.
  6. iPhone 8 camera may offer 3D photography.
  7. iPhone 8 may be dust, water resistant.
