US House Speaker Paul Ryan met Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar in Washington D.C., where Indian Ambassador to the US Navtej Sarna was also present.

Foreign Secretary  S Jaishankar’s US visit is during period of transition between India & US. India has filed a case against US in WTO and with changing of power in US, the relation are taking a new tide.

“Relation between United States & India is rooted in shared values of democracy and freedom. I expressed House’s condolences on the death of Srinivas Kuchibhotla, who was senselessly murdered last week in Kansas,” Ryan said.

“Defence co op has been a major area of success between US and India,and FS Jaishankar should emphasise that,” says Sarah Watson, Center for Strategic and International Studies.
