Six SPs transferred in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government transferred Sukma District Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela in the wake of controversy over his alleged remark on human rights activists.

Five other SPs, including R N Dash of Bastar district, were also transferred, an official release said here.

According to some local media reports, Elesela, a 2011 batch IPS officer, during a private function yesterday in Jagdlapur district headquarters had allegedly made some controversial statement on human rights activists.

Controversial IPS officer SRP Kalluri, recently removed from the post of Inspector General-Bastar Range, and Dash were also reportedly present at the function.

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly T S Singhdeo today raised the issue in the Assembly. Later, Congress leaders demanded a probe into the matter.

The state government, late this evening, issued the transfer orders of six SPs, including Elesela and Dash.

As per the order, Elesela has been posted as SP, State Intelligence Branch (SIB) in Raipur, while Dash has been appointed SP of Balodabazar-Bhatapara district.

Balodabazar-Bhatapara SP Sheikh Arif Hussain will take over as Bastar SP.

Similarly, Narayanpur SP Abhishek Meena will take charge as Sukma SP, while Kondagaon SP Santosh Singh will succeed Meena.

SP of Special Task Force (STF) Ashutosh Singh has been appointed as Kondagaon SP.
