Miscreants kill contractor in Khunti district

Khunti: A 30-year-old contractor was on Thursday shot dead in a market in Govindpur village in the extremist-affected Khunti district, the police said.

The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Karra police station.

Two assailants came to the market on a motorcycle and opened fire, killing Sahu on the spot, said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Torpa), Nazir Akhtar.

The victim, Vinod Sahu was returning from the weekly market.

In an another incident, a bullet-ridden body of a 22-year-old youth was recovered from Terka village under the jurisdiction of Murhu police station in the same district.

The victim Tintus Bodra had left home last evening to attend a marriage ceremony but he did not return home, said Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ranveer Singh.
