Five places perfect for a monsoon vacation

Date:

The monsoons are here and the clouds have finally given some respite from the heat. But the mountains have ditched all your vacation lists and you are gain left with no destinations. The mountains are going to be risky as the monsoon advances and the chances of landslides and other mishaps would also go up. So here we get you these five amazingly beautiful destinations that are perfect for monsoons.

Ranikhet

ranikhet

Ranikhet is a place related with the legends of Himalayas. Historical accounts tell us the Queen Padmini of Kumaon was enchanted by this tiny hill paradise. King Sudhardev obliged her, by building a palace here for the queen and named the place Ranikhet (the queen’s fields).  a healthy climate, tall coniferous trees, vast green meadows, tranquil surroundings, perfect peace and warm, open-hearted people. And the monsoons have their own irresistible charm.

Ladhakh

ranikhet

Spectacularly jagged, arid mountains enfold this magical, Buddhist ex-kingdom. Picture-perfect gompas (Tibetan Buddhist monasteries) dramatically crown rocky outcrops amid whitewashed stupas and meditational mani walls topped with countless mantra-inscribed pebbles. Colourful fluttering prayer flags spread their spiritual messages metaphorically with the mountain breeze. And the beauty grows manifold in monsoon.

Udaipur

udaipur

Beside shimmering Lake Pichola, with the ochre and purple ridges of the wooded Aravalli Hills stretching away in every direction, Udaipur has a romance of setting unmatched in Rajasthan and arguably in all India. Fantastical palaces, temples, havelis and countless narrow, crooked, colourful streets add the human counterpoint to the city’s natural charms. It is the best place to go to in the monsoons.

Coorg

coorg

The misty hills, lush teakwood and sandalwood forests, and acres of tea and coffee plantations of Coorg are, in a word, stunning. Also known as Kodagu and dubbed “The Scotland of India,” Kodagu is a postcard-perfect region of scattered villages and hamlets, which are the epitome of old-world charm. The place is the most beautiful to be in these monsoons.

Shillong

The destination is one of the quaintest places in India and many tourist places in Shillong remain all time favourites among travellers. The attractions here are more on the natural side. Some of the places that you just cannot miss are Elephant Falls, Ward’s Lake, Shillong Peak, Umiam Lake, and Elephant Falls. Shillong is a pristine beauty and its serenity multiplies in the monsoons.
