Defeating cancer, poverty, two UP girls pass Boards with flying colors

With courage and determination, we can overcome the biggest obstacles. This adage has been proven correct by two Uttar Pradesh girls who passed with flying colors in the Board exams.

Though Supriya from Gorakhpur is fighting a disease that makes people tremble and lose hope, she scored 81 percent marks in her 10th Boards.

Not only has she made her parents proud, but also has given thousands of people a message. You should not get disappointed with life when faced with difficulty – even if you are suffering from blood cancer.

Supriya has had blood cancer for the past three years and her parents, Digvijay Bharati and Rupa Devi, who lived near Jatpur Kali temple, have put millions of rupees in her treatment. Today they are almost penniless.

But, that only made Supriya determined to live her life and to become an inspiration for others.

She studied hard and has achieved success – though, she is disappointed that she could not fulfill her father’s dream of becoming a topper.

Her parents should also be congratulated, as they kept her motivated.

Meanwhile, in Muzaffarnagar a girl secured second place in the district in 12th Boards exams memorizing by writing on the walls and doors of her house with stones. Meenakshi Sharma studied under street lights as there was no electricity as well.

The family had always been poor but, her father who used to earn by plying a rickshaw, died of an illness due to of lack of treatment recently.

After the death of her father, the family lost all hopes.

“I was happy to secure 90.8 percent, but I missed my father. When my two English papers were left, my father expired. Despite my family’s financial hardship, my mother supported me and never let me feel that we were financially unstable,” Meenakshi said.

She wants to become a Professor in Chemistry as it is her favorite subject and she scored maximum in it.

These girls have proved that daughters are no less than sons – a lesson the entire nation needs to learn.
