DMRC conducts first trial run on the Noida-Greater Noida corridor

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Tuesday successfully conducted the first trial run of metro on the Noida-Greater Noida corridor.

DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh flagged off the train from Noida along with Noida Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director Alok Tandon on Tuesday. Tandon said that the new corridor could begin operations within four months if the work was completed on time. He said 90% of track-laying work and 70% of electrical and mechanical work was completed and 65% of the signalling system had been installed.

“The train with four coaches had arrived at the Mundhra Port in Gujarat on November 23, 2017, and reached the depot in Greater Noida on December 14, 2017,” the DMRC’s press release said. “Basic movement trials and validations were conducted over the last fortnight against stringent timelines.” The metro authority added that the train’s full-fledged trials would begin after internal testing was completed.

Details of new line

The new line will have a total of 19 trains with four coaches each. The trains will run at a maximum speed of 80 kilometres per hour, clocking an average speed of 37.5 km per hour. The train will cover a distance of 29.7 kilometres with 21 stations on the route once the service begins.
