Apple planning to Junk I phone X after sluggish sales

Date:

The Cupertino giant Apple is planning to discontinue the 5.8-inch iPhone X. According to reports, the company is disappointed with the demands of the 5.8-inch iPhone X and since the larger iPhone X Plus takes its place, production of the earlier phones will be discontinued.

The shocking claim comes from Apple prognosticator, Ming-Chi Kuo, who is a highly regarded analyst at the KGI securities firm. Though Kuo’s notes aren’t issued yet to the public, the information was learned from an AppleInsider report, which also states Kuo’s claim that Apple’s iPhone X failed to sell as many handsets in China as it was expected, and that “the notch” is at least partially to blame.

Kuo specifically claims that the notch that plunges from the top of the iPhone X’s OLED display that led users to consider the 5.8-inch, 2436 x 1125-pixel panel allows less usable space than the 5.5-inch screen in the iPhone 8 Plus (1920 x 1080 pixels). Kuo strongly stated that Apple plans to add three iPhones in 2018.

The analyst previously claimed that Apple will introduce dual OLED-based iPhone X-like phones this year, with a larger 6.5-inch design and a 5.8-inch model. Rumours are rife that the 6.1-inch iPhone will feature an LCD design, and offer a more affordable price, at between $649 and $749.

As per reports, the LCD-based 2018 iPhone would have the notch-based design, but its display would feature Full Active LCD technology, which enables for less bezel. Thus it wouldn’t look outdated compared to devices from Samsung and others that have chipped away at the bezel around the display.

Should this comes as true, this would mark the first time that Apple didn’t offer the previous year’s iPhone at a more affordable price.
