Sunjwan attack: Four terrorists killed, Army Chief takes stock

On the ongoing Sunjwan operation by the Army, a fourth terrorist has been gunned down by security personnel today. As the operation continued into the second day following the terror attack at the Sunjwan Army residential quarters.

Two more security personnel and one civilian have lost their lives, taking the death toll to six. The operation is still underway.

Army Chief General Bipin Rawat in Srinagar to review the security situation, a day after the terrorists attacked the Sunjwan Army Camp.

General Rawat was also briefed about the attack by senior commanders.

The Sunjwan army camp in Jammu and Kashmir was attacked by the terrorists in the early yesterday. The first losses came in the form of Subedar Madan Lal Choudhary and Subedar Mohd Ashraf Mir who were killed while four were injured, including a civilian.

A ‘red alert’ was sounded on Sunday at the Punjab-Jammu and Kashmir border following the terror attack.

A special checking was raised at Madhopur entry point from Punjab to the Valley.

“Punjab police was put on alert and vehicle checks are also going on since morning for the safety of the people,” according to the Punjab Police officer on duty.

He added that all suspicious people were under surveillance.

The Army has neutralized three terrorists of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in the ongoing operation.

The state Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh lashed out at Pakistan and called the attack an “act of cowardice”.

He further informed that the Army was taking precaution in cordoning-off the area as there were family quarters around the camp.
