Bollywood’s sweetheart Sridevi mourned

Date:

A fan very aptly said on Facebook, “Moon will shine a little brighter for our Chandni tonight…” Sridevi will always shine brightly for her legions of fans who woke up this morning to the nasty news of her sudden demise at the age of 54.

The story of Sridevi is the story of an underdog in Hindi cinema making it big on talent and personal charisma that clicked with the audiences. It will not be a mistake to say that she was India’s first lady superstar.

Her story is the kind movie legends are made of – the first among Bollywood actresses to have carried movies in her own name, married to a powerful movie mogul, given birth to two beautiful daughters – one of whom will be debuting next month with her much-awaited first film and gone too soon.

Since the actor was in Dubai attending a high-profile family wedding, pictures of which were being splashed across the social media everyday, most people thought that it was fake news till confirmation started coming from family members and Twitter was flooded with condolence messages from everyone who is anyone in Bollywood.

It was Amitabh Bachchan who had perhaps set the stage for this great loss with a single Tweet just an hour or so before her demise. Premonition?

The shock of the unbelievable news soon turned into sorrow and words and photographs started flooded the social media. It looked like the Padma Shri awarded actress had fans from every walk of life. Bollywood which is known more for its cat fights and back-stabbing for once stood up as one to mourn its own.
