Twitter advises users to change passwords

Date:

Twitter has advised its users to change their passwords after spotting a bug that stores passwords in an internal log. They found a bug that stored unprotected passwords in the system.

The bug has been fixed and there is no threat of misuse or breach, however, as a precaution, Twitter recommends to change the passwords that are used once.

Twitter further explained that it protects passwords through a process termed as “hashing”. In this process, the original password entered by the user automatically gets replaced by a set of numbers and letters that get stored in the system.

This hashing process enables Twitter to validate the user accounts without leaking their passwords.
