A 10-year old girl hanged herself to death after a fight over the TV remote

A 10-year old girl allegedly committed suicide after a minor fight with her elder sister over a TV remote in Noida Sector 12 on Tuesday morning. The victim was a student of class 5.

The victim lived with her elder sister and parents at the ground floor of three-storey building. Police said that her parents had gone for office and the children stayed back home.

“At around 8:30 am, the two children quarreled over remove. The younger one got angry after she failed to get the TV remote. She went inside a room and hanged herself with a scarf,” said the police.

The victim’s grandmother, who lived at the top floor, climbed down and found the child hanging with the window grill. The woman raised and alarm and neighbours rushed to the spot. The victim was rushed to a Hospital nearby where doctors declared her dead.

Rajiv Kumar Singh, CO Noida II, said that the body has been sent for a postmortem and a report is awaited. “The family has not filed any complaint in this regard,” he said.
