Another BJP worker found dead in West Bengal

Date:

New Delhi: Three days after a BJP worker, 18-year-old Trilochan Mahato, who belonged to the Dalit community, was found dead in gruesome circumstances in West Bengal’s Purulia, seemingly for supporting his party, another BJP worker has now been found dead in chillingly similar circumstances in the same general area.

28-year-old Dulal Kumar, who BJP national secretary Rahul Sinha has confirmed was the party’s OBC Morcha vice president, has been found dead, hanging from an electric pole near his village, Dabha.

Reportedly, Dulal had allegedly gone missing on Friday night. When information about him having been found dead was initially received, the local Police said that it was a case of suicide.

Just as in the Mahato case, the BJP demanded a CBI probe into the matter. Sinha said, “Even the Police doesn’t know what is going on in Purulia. We want CBI to probe the matter. We will call (West Bengal CM) Mamata Banerjee for this.”

Earlier, in the case of Mahato’s death, two messages had been found, one scribbled on the back of his white t-shirt and another, in a crumpled piece of paper that had been left near his feet.

Roughly translated, the horrific message read, “This is for doing BJP politics from age 18. Been trying to kill you since the vote. Failed. Today your life ends.”

Mahato’s family has also demanded a CBI probe in the matter, and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the West Bengal government in the matter.
