Railways and IT ministry ink pact to allow bookings via 2.9 lakh Common Service Centres

New Delhi: Union Minister for Electronics, IT, Law & Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad launched “5000 CSC WiFiChoupal”, an initiative towards developing rural Wi-Fi network infrastructure to provide affordable services that transform villages into smart villages.

“Delivery of Railway Tickets through CSCs” was also launched.

On this occasion, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal also announced that all 2,90,000 CSCs will be connected with technology for booking railway tickets.

The common service centres may now also book unreserved railway tickets. An agreement in this regard was also exchanged on this occasion.

The Finance Minister Goyal also announced that all the CSCs will be made banking correspondent, however, he urged them to be honest in their work.
