Five injured as a part of Andheri bridge collapses

Date:

A bridge in Mumbai’s Andheri area collapsed, the part of the bridge that connects Andheri West to Andheri East collapsed on Tuesday morning. Five people were injured during this incident. But the incident would have been bigger if Chandrashekhar Sawant, the driver of the local train, was not there.

Sawant saw the foot overbridge collapsing from a distance and quickly applied the emergency brakes. The local train just stopped meters away from the collapsed bridge. The minister announced Rs. 5 lakh reward for motorman Chandrashekhar Sawant who had done his job well. The driver, however, was modest about his achievement.

Collapsed road overbridge led to the disruption of road traffic and hanging wires led to delay in resumption of rail operations. The trains on the Western lines have been affected.
